HIGH SCHOOL GAME RULES

As a framework for the SDCYA football season and high school games will follow the outline rules in NFHS 2018 Rule Book section and the subsequent 2019 & 2020 CIF RULE CHANGES

RULE AMENDMENT 1
Playing quarters will be 10 minutes instead of 12 minutes as outlined in rule below:

SECTION 1 LENGTH OF PERIODS ART. 1 . . .

The clock running time for a game shall be 48 minutes for high schools with periods and intermissions as indicated in Table 3-1.

RULE PERMITTED:

SECTION 6 COACHES FIELD EQUIPMENT
ART. 2 . . . Electronic communication devices including but not limited to audio recorder, Local Area Network (LAN) phones and/or headsets, mobile phones, still photograph(s), film, analog or digital video(s) and/or Internet depictions may be used by coaches and nonplay

RULE 6: GAME BALL

SD1: SDYFCC follows the NFHS Rule Book pertaining to the color of the football. The ball shall be of a good grade of leather, rubber or composite material with specifications in the area of:



RULE 10: LENGTH OF PERIODS

Maximum length of periods by division of play is:

8U – 14U...........................10 minutes quarters standard clock
All
rules for 10U up will apply  to 8U games except with special teams. (No kickoffs & free kicks are in effect)
10U - 14U will be have no restrictions and follow the AYF rule book for those divisions with the exception of rule below.

RULE 19: RADIOS AND COMMUNICATION DEVICES

No radios, cellular phones, or other communicative devices shall be allowed on the field during the game.

Persons found in violation of this rule will be subject to suspension as determined by the hearing officers. This rule applies to football coaches, cheer/dance/step coaches, team parents, and participants.
